There is a crisis going on…

Politicians dream of sending asylum seekers to Rwanda. Everybody is affected by the cost of living crisis. There has never been a harder time for those seeking asylum and protection Its a crisis on top of a crisis.

Hope’s residents have been made street homeless and destitute by the asylum system. Until Hope stepped in they had nothing, not even for food and essentials.

We keep the lights on in our 13 houses and provide crisis grants  to around 60 people each month. And it works. Every year we see dozens of people using our advice and support to take steps towards safety and new lives in the UK despite the hostile environment.

How would you cope?

Over the summer we have watched as our crisis grant of £25 per week has dwindled in value as food prices shot up. Think about it. £25 per week to buy 7 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 7 dinners. Clothes and toiletries. Travel and communication. How would you make ends meet?

It’s nowhere near enough, but its what we can afford. This summer, though, we have decided to increase it to £30. Still very little, but that extra £5 can make all the difference.

We hadn’t budgeted for this increase, and it will cost us £15,000 a year that we need to find from somewhere. Thats on top of the increased gas and electricity bills in our houses.

Can you help?

Those of you who already give to Hope – Thank you. We simply couldn’t do it without you We’re asking for your help. If you don’t already give, we’re asking for your help. All donations are welcome, but best of all are regular monthly standing orders – however small – because they allow us to plan for the future. A few pounds a month would be amazing.
